Research and Development Centre

Acting out of concern for increasingly higher quality of its products and adapting them to the growing expectations of consumers, the Institute of Dairy Industry Innovation started its operation in February 2010 in Mragowo. Affiliated to SM MLEKPOL, it is the first facility of this type in the food industry in Poland. In the same year, there was established the Scientific Council of the Institute of Dairy Industry Innovation, consisting of 10 eminent representatives of Polish science and industry. The Council includes, inter alia, 8 professors, whose 2 are the members of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Among the Institute’s employees there are also 5 titular professors and 5 doctors.

In 2015 the Institute was granted the status of the Research and Development Centre awarded by the Minister of Development. It is equipped with the latest research facilities that allow for performing works according to the highest global standards.

The Institute focuses its activities on three areas:

  • research on raw materials, products, feed, additives and materials used for their production as well as environmental research,
  • development of new and improvement or modernisation of existing technologies,
  • scientific works and works in the field of research and development.

The Institute carries out microbiological, physico-chemical, rheological, biochemical and other analyses in the widest scope in Poland. By having a modern pilot plant, it also offers services for dairy production establishments. The Institute is run by an eminent specialist in the dairy industry – prof. dr hab. Andrzej Babuchowski.

Innovations are necessary. We work keeping in mind the needs and wellbeing of consumers.

We are currently noticing a great interest in healthy and functional food.

This means that even existing products must be changed so that they are healthier, more functional, but just as tasty as always. Current consumer trends open the possibility for the development of new products – says prof. dr hab. Andrzej Babuchowski.
